GUWAHATI: The Pratibandi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA) on Saturday expressed disappointment for not receiving any response from the Chief Minister and Social Welfare Minister over their demands.

PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar said that the body has submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister and Social Welfare Minister highlighting as many as 21 demands several times. But, to date, they have not received any answer from the CM and the Social Welfare Minister. "If our demands are not addressed within the next three days then we will stage intense agitations," said Malakar.

Further, he expressed resentment against the Social Welfare Department for allegedly declaring a living Divyangjan pensioner dead. He said, "In 2019, an official from District Social Welfare Department in Baksa informed the Directorate of Social Welfare that Divyangjan pensioner Santiram Deka from Tamulpur has passed away. Later, on behalf of the person, the PSSA informed the Directorate that that Deka is alive. However, despite committing such a grave mistake, the directorate didn't take any action against the erring official from Tamulpur."
