GUWAHATI: Assam State BJP welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his two day visit to Northeast which ended today. The party said that PM Modi brought in a positive change for the development of the north-eastern states.

The PM had visited Northeast to glorify the oath-taking ceremonies in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura for the formation of new governments. The PM also had a meeting with the Assam Council of Ministers on Tuesday on developmental purpose.

The party said that the Northeast has come into the country’s mainstream during Prime Minister Modi’s rule. Earlier, during the Congress regime spanning several decades, the North East was always looked with apathy, neglected and treated with step-motherly attitude. The Modi government has given top priority to the region and regarded the region as ‘Ashta lakshmi’. The development that the region has witnessed over the past eight years on all fronts has been unprecedented.

Along with development has come durable peace and stability in the region with the coming overground of scores of militant outfits. Earlier, during the Congress rule the region witnessed chaos and mayhem with militants calling the shots and development coming to a standstill.

Today, due to Prime Minister Modi’s unbounded love and concern for the people of the Northeast, there has been a positive change in mindset of the people. And that is the biggest achievement of the Government.

Never before Prime Minister Modi, no Prime Minister has had visited the region for 53 times and that is because the region has always been close to his heart. The people of Assam and the region as a whole have also reposed their faith and confidence on Prime Minister Modi and his vision “sabka saath sabka vikas”.
