Programme launched for senior citizens living with dementia in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Aakuali Care Services, a Guwahati-based service provider on mental fitness and lifestyle amongst elderly citizens launched their 'Elderly Home Care Initiatives' on Monday at Vinyl Cafe, Guwahati.

The initiative inaugurated by noted actor, Prastuti Parashar graced the occasion with her support to the cause. National awardee for 'Best Teacher', RanuBorgohain was the Guest of Honor of the event.

The Aakuali 'Elderly Home Care Initiative' is primarily focusing on senior citizens living with dementia, where Alzheimer's disease is the common form. The services under the initiative include Dementia care, medical emergency care and weekly counseling sessions, stated a release.

"We need to make sure our elderly gets the best care possible, even when their words aren't around. And this is exactly where Aakuali Care Services have taken a step to fulfill all the duties in their absence," said Parashar at the launch event.

"Dementia is one of the most common diagnosed mental ailment in the present society. It's the societal taboo that has barred people from seeking professional help. We at Aakuali hope to move forward with this initiative to help the elderly citizens in need, with proper care, counseling and companionship," said Debastuti Baruah, Psychologist (Geriatric care).
