GUWAHATI: Syedain Abbasi, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Public Health Engineering Department reviewed the work done by the poor-performing contractors of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes under Barpeta, Goalpara, Dibrugarh and Dhubri Districts of Assam at Assam Water Centre on Friday.
He interacted with all the contractors of the districts one by one to fix issues regarding the implementation of the schemes and instructed the concerned officers and contractors to remove the hindrances immediately in consultation with the DPR agencies and district administration so that the progress of all the schemes moves per schedule. He instructed all the monitoring officers to keep a constant vigil on the progress of the schemes, especially which are running with low progress.
He also expressed concern regarding the performance of some of the contractors and directed the concerned ordering authorities to impose liquidated damages (LD) and cancel work orders with forfeiture of Performance Bank Guarantee(PBG) as per the tender clause, wherever performance has been very poor.
The Additional Chief Secretary and the Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission also directed other contractors to submit written undertakings with fixed timelines and warned the contractors that failure to meet the deadlines will invite due action as per relevant clauses of the tender.
