Protest in Guwahati against privatization policies of Government

Protester said that the government has been cheating the people of the country

Guwahati: Several trade union and employees union came together on Thursday to stage a protest in the city against the government's decision to privatize public sector enterprises.

The protest was organized by the Central Trade Unions, Employees federations, and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at Noonmati refinery in Guwahati.

More than hundreds of trade unions and federation workers took part in the protest. They also demanded equal status and equal pay for all men and women employees.

They claimed that the government's policies are anti-people strongly opposed the government's labour laws and lack of initiative or policies to address unemployment issues.

One of the protesters said, "BJP government is liar, it makes false promises, the government has just been cheating the people of the country. We 10 Central Trade Unions and Employees Federation members have come together to protest against this so that we can take a step for the well-being of the public and can stand by the side of the farmers, workers, small businessmen, including unemployed people."

The Central Trade Unions and Employees federation would hold a nation-wide protest against the government's privatization policies on November 26.
