Protest staged against attack on Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupen Borah

Guwahati: Following the attack on Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah on Sunday, a protest was staged and a meeting was held in the Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati demanding justice for the illegal actions. The meeting was chaired by the vice president of APCC Nipen Thakuria. Senior Congress Leader Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury alleged that the BJP was acting with injustice against the rally and suggested that a case be filed against them. Many other leaders also spoke against the misgovernance of the BJP government. A half an hour long protest was staged on the premises ahead of the meeting.

The United Opposition Forum also condemned the recent assault on Bhupen Borah alleging that the CM has failed to control the law and order situation in the state. General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi called the incident very unfortunate and demanded the resignation of the CM reminding that such hooliganism will not be tolerated while demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. He also mentioned that this incident has put the people of Assam to shame.
