GUWAHATI: The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam on Monday staged a protest in front of the administrative building of the Gauhati University (GU), demanding immediate announcement of error-free results of the special recruitment examination conducted in 2021 by the university for 511 Grade-IV government posts that are reserved for persons with disabilities (PwDs).
The organization's secretary, Nripen Malakar said that the posts were advertised by the State Government in December, 2018 after lengthy protests by the organization. Although the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) was initially entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the recruitment examination, later the responsibility was given to Gauhati University, which conducted the examination in 2021.
However, Malakar said, the anomalous result announced by the Gauhati University on April 26 this year merely comprised a list of marks obtained by over 4,000 candidates. Moreover, the university has failed to declare the final, error-free results even though six months have elapsed since then.
The protestors submitted a memorandum in connection with their grievance, which was accepted by the Registrar of the university on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. The Registrar assured the Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam that the university authority will resolve the matter after discussions with the State Government, Malakar said.
