GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has directed the State government to file details of the progress report of the Purnendu Langthasa and Nindu Langthasa murder case that has been heard in the Dima Hasao Session Court since 2007.

The then North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purnendu Langthasa and EM (Executive Member) Nindu Langthasa were killed in 2007. Since then the case has been heard in Dima Hasao Session Court. The charge-sheet along with the prosecution sanction in the case was filled in 2019, after long 13 years.

With Late Nindu Langthasa's son Daniel Langthasa filing a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court with the plea that the Purnendu Langthasa and Nindu Langthasa murder case is heard in a fast-track court, the writ petition came up for hearing on Tuesday.

The High Court directed the State government to file details of the progress report of the murder case to it by April 19, 2021 when the case will be heard next.
