GUWAHATI: A minor girl was rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday and handed over to Railway Childline, Guwahati.

Information was received from Security Control/Lumding that a minor girl aged 15 years, resident of Berma Camp, Power House under Dimapur PS in Nagaland, had run away from her home and boarded the 05909 Down Avadh-Assam Express in coach no-D-3 from Dimapur railway station. On getting the information, RPF searched the train when it arrived at Guwahati Railway Station and found the girl.

On being asked, the girl stated that she was temporarily living at Dimapur, Nagaland with her father and step-mother. But due to harassment by her step-mother, she ran away from her home and boarded the Avadh-Assam Express train from Dimapur station to go to her native place – Mujaffarpur, Bihar. Her father informed that his daughter was missing since September 17 but no FIR was lodged by him in this regard.

The rescued minor girl was brought to RPF/Post/Guwahati and after observing all formalities, she was handed over to Railway Childline, Guwahati for her safe custody and further necessary action.
