Railway Protection Force seizes illegally generated e-tickets worth Rs 10,518

A joint team of RPF (Railway Protection Force) and Satgaon Police has seized 15 railway illegal e-tickets generated using the personal user IDs (Identity Documents) of several persons on various dates in several trains.

GUWAHATI: A joint team of RPF (Railway Protection Force) and Satgaon Police has seized 15 railway illegal e-tickets generated using the personal user IDs (Identity Documents) of several persons on various dates in several trains. The estimated value of the recovered e-tickets is Rs 10,518.

RPF sources informed The Sentinel on Wednesday, "The joint team conducted a raid in a xerox shop at the Panjabari Road under Satgaon Police Station from 12:30 hours to 13:50 hours on September 8, 2021. The operation was carried out in the presence of the xerox-shop owner — Pranjit Pathak and other local witnesses."

Pranjit Pathak (28 years is son of Pramod Pathak of Ujankuri village under Hajo Police Station in Kamrup District. He presently resides at the Panjabari Road area.

During interrogation by the police, Pranjit failed to produce any authorization certificate issued by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation) for running the business of railway e-ticketing or to give any satisfactory reply for the recovered railway e-tickets.

Pranjit also confessed before the police that he had generated the recovered railway e-tickets using the personal user ID illegally for his monetary benefit.

The accused Pranjit has been produced before the RPF Inspector, New Guwahati, for taking necessary action. In this connection, a case (39/2021 U/S 143 Railways Act, dated September 8, 2021) has been registered. An investigation is on.
