GUWAHATI: Anti Corruption Youth-Power, Assam (ACYPA), an organization, has demanded of the State government to make public the reports of the inquiry committees that were constituted by the State government in the past four years within a month and punish the culprits within six months.
Citing a few of the inquiry commissions formed by the State government in the past four year, ACYPA president Dharmakanta Gogoi said in a statement issued on Saturday, "On December 28, 2016 an inquiry commission was constituted to probe into the killing of Ratan Narzary at Laopani in Kokrajhar district. However, nobody knows as to at what stage the inquiry is now.
"The State government did form an inquiry commission on February 20, 2017 to inquire into the Rs 1,200-crore scam in the National Bamboo Mission. The inquiry commission submitted its report to the government that however hasn't taken any action as yet.
"An inquiry committee was instituted into the electrocution of six persons while fishing in a pond at Rupahihat in Nagaon district in 2017. The inquiry committee did submit its report. However, the government has not taken any action against those responsible."
Institution of inquiry committees soon after incidents or corrupt practices coming to the fore is common in Assam. However, in most of such cases either the inquiry committees don't submit their reports or the government stay away from taking action against the erring people even after submission of inquiry reports. Institution of inquiry committees do squeeze the State exchequer without action being taken against the culprits.
