GUWAHATI: The Rani Sapori Pothar Porichalona Samiti (RSPPS) has alleged that the farmers of the region have been deprived from government's flood relief funds.

The RSPPS alleged that neither in 2019 nor in 2020, did the farmers receive any flood assistance from the government. In a statement, RSPPS president Narayan Das said, "In the year, 2019 two wave of floods hit the State. This year four flood waves have devastated the farmers. However, they have not received any flood relief in the two years due to which their condition is deteriorating."

Adding to Das' statement, secretary AkshayKalita said, "Rani Sapori (SarNehali) lies in the Brahamaputra River from Dharapur to Kendukuchi. There are over 400 farmers and around 4,000 acres of fertile land and most of these farmers from the sapori depend on agriculture and cattle for their income," he added.
