RBI organizes zonal-level of all India quiz on financial literacy in Guwahati

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) organized the 6th zonal level of the All-India Quiz on Financial Literacy in Guwahati on Friday.

 GUWAHATI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) organized the 6th zonal level of the All-India Quiz on Financial Literacy in Guwahati on Friday. State winners from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura participated in the competition. Around 5605 students from approximately 2803 government and municipal schools in these states participated in the block-level quiz competitions held earlier.

The six selected teams that competed at the zonal level were Basugaon Higher Secondary School from Assam, Government Secondary School, Banderdewa from Arunachal Pradesh, GHSS Jotsoma from Nagaland, Kendriya Vidyalaya Happy Valley from Meghalaya, Government Saitual High School from Mizoram, and Chailengta Government English Medium High School from Tripura.

Tanushree Debanath and Uday Sankar Karmakar of Basugaon Higher Secondary School, Chirang, were the winners of the zonal round and will be participating in the national level to be organized by RBI at a later date. The winners and participants were felicitated by Sonali Sengupta, Chief General Manager-In-Charge of RBI Central Office, Mumbai; Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Director General of Police, Assam; Sushmita Phukan, Regional Director, RBI, North Eastern Region; and Director IIBM, CGM SBI.

RBI has been, from time to time, taking various measures to spread financial literacy among various target populations. One such endeavour in this regard was the rolling out of an All-India Quiz on Financial Literacy during 2023, targeting children of Class VIII, IX, and X in government schools. The quiz that commenced at the block level and was conducted at the district and state levels aims at generating an interest in financial literacy in the student community in a fast-changing, complex world with evolving digital innovations, stated a press release.
