GUWAHATI: Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Minister Jogen Mohan has asked the Water Resource department to speed up projects undertaken by the latter with SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) without compromising quality.

Accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Joint Secretary Ananda Das, the Nalbari Deputy Commissioner, higher officials from Barpeta district administration, and some top officials of the Water Resource department, the Minister visited some embankments in Nalbari and Barpeta districts recently.

During the visit, the Minister asked the Water Resource Department to speed up the project works without any compromise in the quality. The Minister said, "This is the ideal time to complete the project works. After April this year, the progress of works will be affected by the monsoon."

Talking to The Sentinel, the Minister said, "It has approved a good amount for projects under the Water Resource department for the repair of damaged caused by floods. We want the Water Resource department to complete the projects early before the onset of the monsoon. However, while making progress of the projects the department should ensure that the quality of the works doesn't fall."
