STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI: The All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers' Association has moved Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with a memorandum requesting him to reconsider the Cabinet decision of January 23, 2023, on the regularization of the jobs of contractual and state pool teachers and the subsequent notification issued by the government on February 9, 2023.
The association said that, according to the notification, there will be no probability for the regularization of all the contractual and state pool teachers' posts in primary schools. The notification clearly mentioned that, upon regularization of the identified contractual teachers, the date of their joining as regular teachers will be the date of the order of regularization of their services.
The association said in its memorandum to the Chief Minister that the Cabinet decision and the notification would ignore the seniority of the teachers, because, after being regularized, they will be new appointees, and their pay structure will also be new, leading to financial losses.
On Gunotsav, the Association said, "It is an arrangement for the overall evaluation of a school. It is not reflective of the merit or performance of a few contractual teachers. It is not right to treat the outcome of gunotsav as the indicator for ensuring the regularization of jobs for only contractual teachers. The teachers can never accept such a decision. We demand the Chief Minister regularize the jobs of all contractual or state pool teachers with salary security without any precondition."
According to the Association, the state has 35,000 teachers on contract for ten years.
