GUWAHATI: The recruitment process in the panchayats and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) under the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department will soon start rolling. The Assam State cabinet has already discussed the recruitment.
Talking to media persons on Sunday, State Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) and PHE Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that soon people will be recruited under the JJM and in the panchayats. This recruitment drive will be part of the government's commitment to appoint 1 lakh youths in government jobs.
Dass said that the P&RD department had asked the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) to conduct the selection process to recruit 218 assistant engineers. "Accordingly, the APSC has completed the selection process and when the department gets the official selection list from APSC, the 218 assistant engineers will be appointed in the blocks. They will have to work at the ground level," he said.
Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India. "We will have to work in mission mode so employees will be recruited on a contractual basis," said the minister.
