GUWAHATI: Regional Livestock and Poultry Show, 2023, will take place on February 15, 16, and 17 at the College of Veterinary Science Playground, Khanapara, Atul Bora, minister of agriculture, animal husbandry, and animal Veterinary, informed the media.
He further said the show will be organized by Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam, and Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation. It'll be the third exhibition of this kind. The previous initiatives took place in 2019 and 2021. He further added, on February 15, the show will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and he will be the Chief Guest as well. On February 17, the Governor of Assam will be present during the closing ceremony.
The three day programme will include training, a workshop, and the participation of farmers. As resource people, horticulture scientists will be present. Different breeds of animals, such as goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, cows, etc., will be put on display. The best poultry farmer will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh. Several farmers will also be awarded different prizes. A cultural programme will be held each day. During today's media briefing, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Indira Kalita, Chairman of Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Manoj Saikia, and several other senior officials were present.
