GUWAHATI: Along with the rest of the state, a 2-day registration camp was organised for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in the Kamrup Metropolitan district from Thursday.
The Women Empowerment Centre of the Women and Child Development Department of the district monitored the initiative carried out in five locations and Anganwadi Centres of the district. 2800 beneficiaries have received benefits of the scheme in the current year in the district and others will also receive the same after registering through the Anganwadi centres.
This scheme is aimed at providing financial benefits to pregnant women and new mothers with Rs 5,000 given in two instalments and an additional Rs 6,000 in case of a girl child directly to their accounts. The Anganwadi Centres are implementing this scheme in the state.
