GUWAHATI: Internationally renowned filmmaker and recipient of Sworno Komol award Rima Das next film, Tora's Husband, is set to hit the screens on September 22. The poster for the movie was released on Sunday at Chaygaon in Kamrup district.

During the event, the artiste of the movie and well-wishers were present. Her two movies, Village Rockstars and Bulbul Can Sing, premiered at 120 international and national film festivals, and both films received 70 awards altogether. Tora's Husband has premiered at 19 international film festivals so far.

Tora's Husband talks about loss and lockdowns, life and death, everywhere around the world. It revolves around a small-town businessman in Assam grappling with uncertainty and restlessness. With a worldview unlike those living around him, Tora's husband, Jaan, strives to give his best and expects the same from others. But Tora struggles to understand him. The constant conflict between his inner and outer worlds is draining him emotionally. Juggling his underperforming business and strained personal relationships, he tries to find motivation within to keep going.

The movie is written, directed, and produced by Rima Das and co produced by Jaya Das. The stars are Abhijit Das, Tarali Kalita Das, Bhuman Bhargav, Das, Purbanchali Das, Simanta Malakar, and Nilima Das.

Rima Das, a filmmaker from Chaygaon of Kamrup district, is known for making indigenous and realistic stories that explore complicated relationships, finding purpose, coming of age, and life amidst nature.
