RPF arrests 2 for bag snatching at Guwahati Railway Station

RPF arrested two miscreants identified as Rojeed Miyan (35) and Imran (23), both hailing from Champaran district of Bihar, who stole the bag of a passenger from Uttar Pradesh at Guwahati Railway Station.

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested two miscreants identified as Rojeed Miyan (35) and Imran (23), both hailing from Champaran district of Bihar, who stole the bag of a passenger from Uttar Pradesh at Guwahati Railway Station.

The passenger, Prabhakar Kr Dubey, from Uttar Pradesh, lodged a complaint on August 15 when an unknown person stole the passenger’s bag from Platform number 2 of Guwahati Railway Station, whom he befriended for a short while. The authorities analysed CCTV footage to find the person who took his bag and boarded the Train no. 15933 DN (New Tinsukia-Amritsar) Express standing on PF number 2. The footage was shared with all Divisional Security Controls of the Northeast Frontier Railway for further relaying. On the basis of the footage received from the RPF Guwahati Train Escort Team. They traced the miscreant from the general coach of train when the said train was running in between Kishanganj-Dalkhola and apprehended him.

The apprehended person was found to be with another associate of the same coach, and the team apprehended both miscreants. The Train Escort team brought both the apprehended people to Guwahati and handed them over to Government Railway police (GRP). In this regard, GRP registered a case (141/23 under Section 379/34 IPC) on Thursday.
