RPF NFR recovers railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 64,000, two arrested

Two touts arrested for illegally selling railway e-tickets

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway has apprehended two persons involved in the illegal sale of railway tickets and recovered 25 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 64,000 in two separate operations conducted over NFR on July 8 and 9, 2021. The apprehended persons were prosecuted under Section 143 of the Railways Act. The RPF also recovered 18 bottles of liquor during checking in trains on July 9, 2021.

In one such incident on July 9, 2021, acting on information regarding touting activities by one travel agency 'SATYAM INTERNET POINT' located at Jail Road, Nagaon, a decoy check was conducted by CIB team of Lumding by sending one constable to purchase one e-ticket. The shopkeeper charged Rs 170 instead of the actual fare of Rs 121. Immediately, the RPF teams of CIB/Lumding and RPF/Post/Chaparmukh under the supervision of IPF/ Chaparmukh conducted a raid in the said shop with the help of the local Police of Nagaon Sadar Police Station. During the raid, they apprehended one person namely, Satyam Prakash Pandey (24 years), son of Sri Jai Prakash Pandey (resident of Jail Road in front of District

Veterinary Center Nagaon under Nagaon Sadar Police Station in Nagaon district of Assam; and recovered six railway e-tickets worth Rs. 7,834.06 which were generated by using personal user IDs.

In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Chaparmukh under Section 143 of Railways Act.

In another incident on July 8, 2021, acting on information received from RPF Cyber Cell at Maligaon, NF Railways regarding touting of Railway e-tickets, RPF teams of CIB/Katihar and RPF

Post/Barsoi under supervision of IPF CIB/Katihar conducted a raid at Majrahi village (Katihar) and apprehended one male person namely, Najir Ahamed (22 years), (son of Safiqul Haque of Majrahi Village, Post Office:

Belbari; Police Station: Azamnagar; Katihar district in Bihar. They also recovered two mobile handsets, a laptop with charger, a dongle (instant pay) and a register regarding booking of railway e-ticket from his possession. On thorough examination of the seized articles, the personnel detected 19 railway e-tickets valued Rs 56,800.55, which were generated by using personal user IDs.

On further interrogation, the accused person disclosed that he had used more than 37 personal user IDs and lots of mobile numbers to book Railway e-tickets for his personal gain. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Barsoi under Section 143 of the Railways Act. On the other hand, on July 9, 2021, RPF staff of CIB/Katihar & RPF Post/Katihar (East), while checking in Train No. 05707 (Radhikapur - Katihar Passenger) at Katihar railway station, recovered 18 bottles of liquor worth Rs 2,592 as unclaimed. Later, the recovered liquor was handed over to Excise/Katihar for further course of action, stated a press release.
