GUWAHATI: The Sadau Asom Sanjogi Shiksha Karmi has demanded to conduct the Special Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) exam which was scheduled for February 28.
Notably, the Special Teachers Eligibility Test for lower primary was scheduled to be held on February 28, 2021 only for the contractual employees engaged by Sarba Siksha Abhijan having valid professional qualifications.
Further many employees who are working in lower primary schools under Sanjogi Siksha Karmi, Jyoti Kendra Siksha Karmi and educational volunteers sought the opportunity to appear for the exam for a job, however, due to the Assam Assembly election 2021 the exams were postponed indefinitely.
Meanwhile, Sadau Asom Sanjogi Shiksha Karmi's general sectary Sirajul Haque said, "After several rounds of meeting with the state education department and Axom Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission, the government came forward to conduct this special TET examination."
"The exam was scheduled to take place on February 28 and candidates also received their admit cards but due to the assembly elections the exam was cancelled," he added.
Haque further said that as the Assam Chief Minster already promised of 1 lakh jobs in the assembly lhall premises, hence urged to conduct the exams as soon as possible.
On the other hand, the general sectary also said that as the age of around 90 percent of the job aspirant is becoming an issue, so the state government should also take this into consideration and come up with a solution.
Further as per the critic set by the government to appear in the exam was Bachelors of Elementary Education (B.EL.ED) degree or B.Ed Diploma was mandatory and with this as many as 15000 teachers from the state applied for the examination and urge the government to conduct the same.
