GUWAHATI: The salary deprived teachers of Assam has claimed that the life of the teachers are turning worse due to the lockdown. Sadou Asom Betan Banchita Karmarata Sikshak Santha (SABBKSS) secretary Basanta Neog said that the salary deprived teachers and their families are worst affected due to the lockdown. Hence, the teachers are demanding regularization of their jobs at the earliest. Neog stated that during the time of the lockdown the government has been extending its helping hands to the needy through many schemes, but these schemes are yet to reach the families of the salary deprived teachers. The SABBKSS alleged that as they have the tag of a government employee and thus they are deprived from any kind of government schemes.

As claimed by the SABBKSS, most of the salary deprived teachers were earning their livelihood by selling vegetables and doing odd works. The lockdown has affected them the most as they are not receiving any aid from the government because of the tag of a government employee, Neog reiterated.

The SABBKSS stated in a press release that the Finance Minister of Assam announced to resolve many problems related to the education sector before lockdown. The body claimed that the finance minister further assured them to regularize their job.

SABBKSS president Hemanjali Bhuyan Dutta said that the government should resolve the long-standing problems faced by the salary deprived teachers before recruiting new teachers.
