GUWAHATI: The Sadou Assam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) cleared that it would support the demand of the teachers and other employees' demands, who were recruited after 2005, for their inclusion in the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

SAKP President Dwipen Sarma said, "For days, SAKP has been organizing various programmes and will continue to do so for the cancellation of the National Pension System (NPS). NPS has not been able to secure the teachers and employees that were claimed by the government. This has made the new generation of teachers and employees worry about their future. SAKP will be providing moral support to the All Assam Government NPS Employees Association, which has called for a strike on August 22 and 23 regarding the cancellation of NPS."

The 38th Annual General Meeting of the SAKP will be held on August 25, 26, and 27 at Srimanta Shankaradeva International Auditorium, Kalakshetra.

Parishad's secretary, Dilip Kalita, said, "There will be 1000 delegates from the 52 district committees, and many organizations under the SAKP will be participating in the meeting. In the programme, there will be a central executive meeting, registration of the delegates, a delegate's meeting, flag hoisting, tribute to the martyrs, discussion with the former members, an open session, and others."
