GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Bonsito Sanskrit Shikshak Gut has appealed to State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to provincialize the posts of Sanskrit teachers before February 20.

Addressing the media, a member of the body, Karmeswar Nath pointed out that 90 per cent of the Sanskrit teachers' posts were not regularized when 265 high schools were provincialized by the Government on February 5. "Why is Sanskrit neglected by the government?" Questioned Nath.

Further, he alleged that the Sanskrit teachers have been deprived of the basic government facilities for the last 20 to 25 years.

"It is the responsibility of the government to safeguard the Sanskrit language," Nath stressed.

The body has demanded that all the Sanskrit high schools of the State should be provincialized, and without any pre-condition the Sanskrit teachers' posts should also be provincialized.
