Save Guwahati Build Guwahati founder Upen Sarma dies in Guwahati at 88

Guwahati, October 29: Renowned sportsperson and founder of Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG), Upen Sarma passed away on Thursday. He was 88.

Sarma, better known as a social activist, was also a popular sportsperson of Assam. He breathed his last at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati, Kailash Sarma, the General Secretary of SGBG said. Mr

Upen Sarma was also a senior journalist and the Founder Editor of Raijor Sangbad, a Government of Assam newspaper.

Sarma earned laurels when he crossed the mighty river Brahmaputra in early 90s at the age of 49years.
