GUWAHATI: An interactive seminar on the Implementation of Indigenous Tribal languages in Schools in Assam as per the provisions of NEP 2020 was recently organized jointly by the Delhi NCR Bodo Sahitya Sabha and the Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha of Assam (ITSSA) at Bodoland Bhawan in Delhi.

At the beginning, the president of the Delhi NCR Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Prof. Nirala Ramchiary, welcomed all the members and office bearers of ITSSA through his welcome address. The governing body members of ITSSA, along with former and current representatives of Bodo, Deori, Dimasa, Garo, Karbi, Mising, Rabha, and Tiwa Sahitya Sabhas, spoke on specific topics related to their respective languages and discussed the importance of implementation as a medium of instruction in schools to preserve, promote, and empower these Tribal languages.

The demand being made by ITSSA with the Government of Assam as well as the Government of India for implementation of these languages in various classes of schools as medium of instruction under the provision of NEP-2020 was deliberated, such as up to Class 12 (Bodo and Garo), up to class 8 (Karbi), and up to Class 5 (Deori, Dimasa, Mising, Rabha, and Tiwa languages).

The participants of the seminar included the President of ITSSA Govinda Taid, the General Secretary of ITSSA Kamala K. Mushahary, the Vice president of ITSSA and former Vice President of Dimasa Sahitya Sabha Dr. Mahanta Kumar Langthasa, the former Vice President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Bisweswar Basumatary, the Chief Secretary of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha and Finance Secretary of ITSSA Rajkumar Rabha, the President of Karbi Sahitya Sabha Barin Ingty, the General Secretary of Garo Sahitya Sabha John Carry Sangma, the former President of Tiwa Sahitya Sabha Lal Singh Madar, the former Vice President of Deori Sahitya Sabha Prabin Kumar Deori, the President of Mising Sahitya Sabha Mr. Hari Narayan Pegu and many other members of Delhi NCR Bodo Sahitya Sabha. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by the General Secretary of the Delhi NCR Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dr. Alongbar Wary., stated a press release.
