Sex Racket Busted in Guwahati, 13 Arrested

GUWAHATI: Hatigaon Police on 2 November arrested 13 people for allegedly running a sex racket in the city of Guwahati.

As per sources out of the 13 people arrested, 9 were women. The raid was conducted on the basis of complaints from the locals of the area to the Hatigaon police.

On following the complaint by the local's police busted the illegal prostitution hub in the city. The people found involved in the illegal sex business while conducting a raid by police were taken to Hatigaon Police station for other inquiries.

The operation of the alleged sex racket was found to be operating from the house of an advocate in the Sijubari area of Hatigaon, Guwahati. Further investigation of the case is going on at present it can help in revealing other sex rackets running in Guwahati. It is another disclosure of sex racket as a part of the important mission by Assam Police of the search against widespread sex racket prevailing in the city.

Earlier in September on conducting a sudden raid by police, a sex racket was busted in Bashistha, CID complex. It was discovered that the sex racket was operating from the house of a Havaldar in the Special Branch named Kamaluddin Ahmed. On conducting the raid Bashistha Police rescued 3 girls hailing from Mayong who were lured by Kamaluddin as per the sources. The three girls were brought with the fake promise of providing jobs and then entered into the business of illegal sex. The accused person was arrested by Bashistha Police and kept under judicial custody.
