Singer Archana Mahanta's health condition critical

Eminent singer Archana Mahanta who suffered a brain stroke on Tuesday, is currently undergoing treatment

GUWAHATI: Eminent singer Archana Mahanta who suffered a brain stroke on Tuesday, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. Her condition is stated to be critical. She is 72.

A team of doctors and experts is continuously monitoring Mahanta's health condition.

"Her health is not at that good condition. She is also suffering from diabetic, high blood pressure and parkinson's disease. The left side of her body has almost become paralysed due to the stroke. It has been getting very tough now to say anything about her health condition," a doctor said.

After hearing the news of the singer Chief MInister Sarbananda Sonuwal has also tweeted, "Concerned over the news of eminent Assamese singer Archana Mahanta Baideu illness. My prayers for her quick recovery."

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has also wished early recovery of the singer.

Meanwhile, Angaraag Papon Mahanta, son of the ailing singer couldn't arrive yet in the city due to the pandemic situation across the country. Papon has, however, written a note on social media to thank everyone for support, wishes and prayers for his mother. "Thank you for your prayers for the speedy recovery of my mother. She is a fighter and I am sure with everyone's love and prayers she'll come out of the condition she is in due to a stroke she had! Please keep sending your positive energies!" Papon wrote.

Adviser to Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami and singer Zubeen Garg on Thursday visited the hospital to take stock of Archana Mahanta's health condition.
