SITA co-vice-chairman Ramen Deka reviews ongoing projects

Ramen Deka, Co-Vice-Chairman of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), held a review meeting with institutions concerned of its ongoing projects

GUWAHATI: Ramen Deka, Co-Vice-Chairman of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), held a review meeting with institutions concerned of its ongoing projects as well as project proposals on Monday at his office at Janata Bhavan, Guwahati.

A detail discussion were held on the projects - Samriddhi Poultry which is to be implemented by the Assam Agriculture University (an MoU is yet to be signed), Development of Solar Power Driven Water Treatment Plant to be implemented by Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Dying Rivers of Assam: A study on degradation of selected rivers and riverine ecosystems in the Brahmaputra Valley for developing a community based action plan for their rejuvenation to be implemented by Aaranyak; and project proposal on Organic Solid Waste Management for Guwahati city to be implemented by the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.

Ramen Deka opined that without technology there could be no success. He stressed that all the work carried out should be technically sound and remedial measures should be given the utmost importance in all the projects. Some of the projects like solid waste management which needed quick remedial, he said, would be discussed with the authorities concerned to be successfully implemented.

In the review meeting, Assam Agriculture University was represented by Dr B.N Bhattacharjee, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati by Professor M.K Purkait, Aaranyak by Partha Jyoti Das and Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati was represented by Prof. Ajay Kalamdhad.
