SITA, GMCH sign MoA to assess post-Covid impact on populace

GUWAHATI: The State Innovation & Transformation Aayog (SITA) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) to execute a project on 'Survey of Post-Covid Impact' with respective terms and conditions. The MoA was signed on behalf of SITA by Chief Executive Officer MS Manivannan, while Prof (Dr) Achyut Chandra Baishya, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, signed it on behalf of the GMCH in the presence of SITA's Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka and various officials.

The project has a four-fold goal: first, assessing the prevalence of post-COVID-19 syndrome; second, assessing the functional status; third, assessing the stress level; and fourth, assessing the psychiatric morbidity.

After the MoA signing ceremony, Ramen Deka expressed the hope that the project will be successful in understanding Covid-19-related distress and psychiatric disorders developed by some patients infected with the virus.

The MoA-signing ceremony was attended by Prof (Dr) Deepanjali Medhi, Professor & Head of Department of Psychiatry, GG Das, Advisor (F&A), DS Hazari, ARO, Dipankar Bora, LO and other officials of SITA.

It may be mentioned that at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, SITA had prepared four reports and submitted those to the State Government in May, 2020.

The reports were entitled 'Report on Industry & Commerce of Assam in the Backdrop of Covid-19 Pandemic'; 'Report on Economy of Assam in the Backdrop of Covid-19 Pandemic'; Report on tea Industry of Assam in the Backdrop of Covid-19 Pandemic'; and 'report on Agriculture & Allied Activities of Assam in the Backdrop of Covid-19 Pandemic'. These reports were prepared in collaboration with various associations and institutions of the State.
