SITA to collaborate with B Borooah College for teaching Japanese

GUWAHATI: State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka on Wednesday handed over the first instalment of Rs 19.80 lakh to the principal of the B Borooah College here, Dr Satyendra Nath Barman, to start a scheme for teaching the Japanese language to students of the State.

Attending a programme organized in this connection at the college premises as the chief guest, Deka stressed the importance of education which he said has evolved tremendously. He spoke at length about economic globalization, where the students now need to enhance their skill and have to be prepared to learn more for job opportunities.

SITA will provide logistic support to B Borooah College to execute the project 'Up-Skilling Students By Imparting Japanese Language Learning Course And Thereby Enhance Their Employability'. Its aim is to upgrade the skills of students by imparting a course in the Japanese language and thereby enhancing their employability in the job and service market of Japan. The Memorandum of Agreement between SITA and B Borooah College in this regard was signed on May 5 last.

The programme was also attended by Hemanta Kumar Mazumdar, Director, MIRAI JLC, GG Das, Advisor (F&A) SITA, Assistant Professor Manabendra Sarma, DS Hazari, ARO SITA, Dipankar Bora, LO SITA and many students of the B Borooah College.
