Sixth schedule status: Assam Governor re-constitutes cabinet sub-committee

The cabinet sub-committee to examine the issue of giving Sixth Schedule status to Mising, Rabha Hasong and Tiwa Autonomous Council areas has been re-constituted.

GUWAHATI: The cabinet sub-committee to examine the issue of giving Sixth Schedule status to Mising, Rabha Hasong and Tiwa Autonomous Council areas has been re-constituted.

The Governor of Assam has re-constituted the cabinet sub-committee to examine the issue of giving Sixth Schedule status to Mising, Rabha Hasong and Tiwa Autonomous Council areas and to recommend policy for demarcation of the boundaries of these autonomous council areas. The cabinet sub-committee will be headed by minister Dr Ranoj Pegu as chairman. Ministers Atul Bora and Ranjit Das are the other members of this cabinet sub-committee.

Mentionably, inclusion of Tiwa Autonomous Council, Mising Autonomous Council and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution has been a long-standing demand of the Tiwa, Rabha and Mising communities.
