GUWAHATI: The North-Eastern Skill and Entrepreneurship Conclave, organized by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), an organization under MDSE GOI, concluded at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Sunday. There werehundreds of other entrepreneurs, both new and experienced, from across the Northeast states who took part in the three-day event. If the juniors got to learn from the seniors, the seniors got the scope to expand their horizons in the event.
For Asano Zashu from Kohima, the last three days in Guwahati have been enriching. Zashu, an entrepreneur from Nagaland, has met fellows from the fraternity, experts, and government officials, and most importantly, she could sense a potential market at the Manthan 2023. "It has been a great experience to meet different stakeholders from different parts of the Northeast. I don't get this kind of environment every day," said the 35-year-old entrepreneur who deals with different kinds of pickles, wines, and jewellery.
Arambam Renu Devi, a veteran in this field, also took part in the event. Renu Devi, secretary of Renu Handloom and Handicraft Co-operative Society Ltd., said they have been extremely benefited by programmes like the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) from the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE).
It is a state-level cooperative society registered under the Manipur Cooperative Societies Act in 1992 with just 110 members. The main activities of the society are empowering women, providing skill development training programmes, and producing and marketing various handloom and handicraft products, including bamboo and cane furniture and other ecologically friendly products made out of bamboo and water reed grass.
Renu Devi said that so far, the society has trained more than 5,015 individuals. "Of all the services rendered to the general public, the most important and best service is taking care of the poor and needy. There are more than 20 orphan girls in the work shed.
