Solar technical training concludes at Yognilayam

GUWAHATI: Under the umbrella initiatives of Green Skill Development Programme supported by Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), one of the ENVIS Resource Partners, New Delhi started a six-week long solar energy certificate course for 30 rural and unemployed youths of Assam at Yognilayam, Abhaypur, North Guwahati, Assam in collaboration with Seva Bharati Purbanchal.

The programme was conducted in two phases, 1st phase completed during April 2020 while the 2nd phase started in November 23. The programme has been concluded successfully on Tuesday. The objective of this programme was to enhance technical skill and employment opportunities in the solar energy sector and promote clean energy for addressing climate change. In the programme, certificates provided to the participants by the invited guests.

Addressing the Valedictory programme, the chief guest, AnandPrakashTiwari, Mission Director, Assam Skill Development Programme spoke about the present use of solar products and its positive impact on environment.

Dr. DipankarSahariya, Senior Director and Senior Fellow, TERI Guwahati spoke on the role of TERI to implement energy related programmes in India and North East Region. The TERI Guwahati will help to participants for further engagement in the solar related projects for their livelihood.

Ramen Sharma, President, SevaBharatiPurbanchal, spoke about use of solar energy in our daily life for better environment and cost effective practices. The training programme will be helpful to generate livelihood in this new direction.

SurendraTalkhedkar, Organizing Secretary, SevaBharatiPurbanchal spoke about the practical involvement after the training by the participants for their best performance in this field. They will be getting more opportunity in this field near future. He told that, SevaBharatiPurbanchal will be providing possible facilities for their livelihood and skill development in respect to Atmanirvar Bharat.

PallaviShukla, TERI provided the details of Green Skill Development Programme. The training was largely of practical and handholding in nature in which 30 rural youth including men and women participants learned about various solar technologies, installation, maintenance etc. Under this programme, the participants also installed a 1 KW solar system and interacted with several industry associations in solar energy sector to understand their responsibilities to promote solar energy systems and employment opportunities. They also learned solar energy entrepreneurships and financing mechanism to take up solar business on their own. The participants were greatly benefited from the experience and knowledge of several experts from reputed institutes and solar industries as including IIT, Guwahati, TERI, Havells, Jyoti solar, Roto solar, Sus connect and others including State level consultants
