Special awareness drive by Cotton University alumni association

GUWAHATI: The Alumni Association of Department of Mass Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Cotton University organized a special awareness programme on 'Use of Mask and Maintenance of Social Distancing' under the slogan 'Nijeu Basok, Aanoku Bosawok'.

A group of ex-students physically met several people from underprivileged background and distributed masks, discussed the importance of wearing it and maintenance of social distancing during this pandemic situation. In this awareness programme, mime artiste and ex-student of the department Mrinak Deka, explained the importance of the same to the mass by his performance.

The awareness programme was staged at places of Guwahati where there is a maximum crowd of people. Uzanbazar, Silpukhuri, Lakhtokia, Fancy Bazar, Lachit Nagar, AT Road, Paltanbazar, Zoo Tiniali, Ganeshguri and Chandmari were the centres where the programme was being staged. Around 500 daily wage workers, street vendors, beggars and people from underprivileged background of the above mentioned areas in Guwahati were distributed free masks by the Alumni Association, a press release said.
