Special Task Force of Assam Police seizes huge phensedyl consignment

GUWAHATI: Acting based on a tip-off, a Special Task Force (STF) team from Assam Police was able to seize a sizeable consignment of contraband phensedyl from Meghalaya.

The Special Task Force (STF) received a tip-off about a possible drug smuggling incident through Assam to Agartala in Tripura. They launched an operation to intercept the vehicle bearing registration number RJ 11 GB 0508. After a chase, the team was able to intercept the vehicle at Lumshnong in the East Jayantia Hill District of Meghalaya with assistance from local police on Friday morning.

Upon searching the vehicle, the STF team recovered 375 boxes containing Phensedyl bottles hidden beneath poultry feed. Each box contained 100 bottles, resulting in a total of 37,500 bottles being seized during the operation. The team apprehended the driver of the vehicle and initiated legal action against those involved
