GUWAHATI: With the aim of combating the dealing and delivery of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), an operation was carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) that led to the apprehension of one accused, identified as Najrul Mazumdar (35) of Cachar district.
Based on input, the STF conducted a raid at a hotel near Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Lalmati, Borsojai, Jagaran Path, under Basistha Police Station on Tuesday. During the raid, the team recovered 280 FICN of Rs 500 denominations, two mobile phones, one FICN printing machine that mints fake notes, 21 sparkling tapes, two transparent book covers, one HP Deskjet 2332 printer, one real white A4 size paper, one scale, and one utility knife.
The team also seized two bundles of white papers meant for Rs 500 FICN that were packed. Further investigation is underway.
