SSUHS to organize public awareness programme on 'Active Ageing'

GUWAHATI: For a holistic and sustained development of the society, Srimanta SankaradevaUniversity of Health Sciences (SSUHS) Assam, under the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dipika Deka has started public awareness programmes. This time, the programme will address a very important and sensitive issue 'Ageing well: The New World challenge' to be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on October 31.

The life in the restricted environment following COVID-19 has put everyone, especially elderly in a very distressful situation both physically and mentally. So it is the need of the hour to address the issues related to health and welfare of the elderly during this challenging time, a press communiqué issued by the SSUHS stated.

The aim of this programme is not only to create awareness for a healthy and active ageing but also to sensitize elderly about different government services and schemes along with their legal rights and previleges. Different myths and misconceptions prevalent in the society will also be discussed. Organizing Chairperson , Professor (Dr) Anku Moni Saikia and Organizing Secretary , Dr SujitBordhan informed that experts of national and international repute will participate in the program along with prominent journalist, govt officials and legal experts.
