State Bank of India NE Circle observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2023

GUWAHATI: The State Bank of India, the largest commercial bank in the country, is observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 from October 30th, 2023, to November 5th, 2023, in terms of the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi, along with various other government offices, PSUs, banks, etc. This year's theme is "Say no to corruption; commit to the nation" (Bhrashtachar ka virodh kare; rashtra ke prati samarpit rahe). All the branches and offices of SBI have undertaken various activities to be performed during the VAW-2023 with zeal and enthusiasm to generate public awareness against corruption. As part of the programme, the Integrity Pledge will be taken by all the employees of SBI across the circle on October 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. The Chief General Manager, NE Circle, Vincent M. D., will administer the pledge-taking ceremony at LHO, Guwahati.

To make the event more meaningful and attractive, an online quiz competition and an essay competition on relevant topics amongst staff members of NE Circle will be organized. Surendra Kumar, IPS, AddI. Director General of Police, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Government of Assam, has been invited to LHO on October 30, 2023, to deliver a speech on the importance of Vigilance Awareness to eradicate corruption from all walks of life. A short speech competition will be conducted amongst the pupils of SBOA Public School, Guwahati, and Happy Child School, Guwahati, during VAW-23. Various activities, viz., quiz competitions, walkathons, gramme sabha, grievance redressal camps, etc., will be organised by administrative offices, regional business offices, and branches across the circle.

During the weeklong programme, SBI, O, and Guwahati, along with other offices and branches in the circle, are displaying suitable messages, carrying hoardings, banners, and posters at prominent locations, and distributing handouts and leaflets through newspapers. Radio jingles will be broadcast during the week, and awareness messages will be displayed on local TV channels to promote a culture of vigilante awareness among the general public.

To mark the occasion, the Vigilance Department at SBI, LHO, has engaged in various awareness programmes, connecting a large number of branches of the NE Circle to highlight the importance of anti-corruption measures amongst the branch heads and other staff members. It is believed that these awareness programmes and various other anti-corruption measures undertaken to be conducted by SBI as a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 will go a long way to sensitise all and sundry about the importance of the event, a press release said.
