State Bank of India observes Vigilance Awareness Week-2021 in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In terms of directives of the Central Vigilance Commission, the Vigilance Awareness Week-2021 from October 26 to November 1, 2021 is being observed all over India by various government offices, PSUs, banks with this year's theme 'Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity'.

Accordingly, all the branches, offices of N E Circle of State Bank of India have also been observing VAW-2021 with zeal and enthusiasm. All the branches/offices under NE Circle have undertaken various activities during the VAW-2021 to generate public awareness against corruption. As part of the programme, Integrity Pledge was undertaken by the employees of SBI on October 26.

To make the event more meaningful and attractive, an online quiz competition and essay competition in relevant topics amongst staff members of NE Circle have been organized. A guest speaker of the rank of DIG of Police, Government of Assam was invited to the LHO to deliver a speech on the importance of Vigilance Awareness to eradicate corruption from all walks of life. A short-speech competition was also organized amongst the pupils of SBOA Public School, Guwahati on the topic 'Ill effects of Corruption in our Society'.

During the week-ong programme, SBI, LHO, Guwahati along with other Offices/ Branches in the Circle are displaying suitable hoardings, banners /postersat prominent locations and distributed handouts /leaflets through newspaper, playing radio jingle and displaying awareness messages in local TV channel. Besides various other programmes to commemorate the occasion, a Vigilance Awareness Programme will be organized at Itanagar on October 29, 2021, where Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi will attend as chief guest.

On the occasion of VAW-2021, DGM (Vigilance) has conducted several awareness programmes through Microsoft Team connecting a large number of branches of NE Circle and highlighted the importance of anti-corruption /preventive vigilance measures amongst the Branch heads and other staff members.
