State Budget is people-oriented, says Asom Sattra Mahasabha

The Asom Sattra Mahasabha (ASM) has welcomed the State Budget 2021-22 and has termed it as a people-oriented Budget covering all sections of the society.

GUWAHATI: The Asom Sattra Mahasabha (ASM) has welcomed the State Budget 2021-22 and has termed it as a people-oriented Budget covering all sections of the society.

ASM general secretary Kusum Kumar Mahanta said that, based on their demands, the government has announced to start a cultural project in the national capital. He said that such cultural projects should be introduced in other metro cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

"Such projects will promote the Xatriya culture. It will also help the people to learn about the Xatriya culture," said Mahanta.

"The decision taken by the government to set up Department of Indigenous Faith and Culture for the development of the ethnic groups is laudable. The prime objective of this is to preserve the tradition and heritage of small ethnic groups and communities of our State. Similarly, a separate directorate should also be formed for the study of Xatriya culture. There as many as 1,242 Xatras in Assam, and over a lakh Namghars," Mahanta added.
