The State Health Department and the district administration of Kamrup have taken preventive measures against the spread of Hepatitis A

GUWAHATI: The State Health Department and the district administration of Kamrup have taken preventive measures against the spread of Hepatitis A in the region after positive cases were detected in the Loco Colony, Madhyam, 26 no. Colony, Hothat Colony, Kalibari, Srinathpatti of Amingaon in the last few days.

In order to prevent any spread of the disease, the Public Heath Engineering Department has distributed bleaching powder in the locality. Samples were collected from an ice cream plant and it has been closed till the reports arrive.

A team comprising medical officers and lab technicians was deputed from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for surveillance of Hepatitis A. The team collected blood and water samples for testing. Three medical teams with doctors and two surveillance teams for contact tracing and blood sample collection had been deployed at the district level. Two other teams have also been mobilized to spread awareness about the steps to be taken to prevent Hepatitis A. Regular testing is also being carried out for people suffering from fever, stomach problems and body ache. The Kamrup Deputy Commissioner called upon the public to come forward for voluntary testing at the nearest health facility if they are suffering from these symptoms.
