State Innovation and Transformation Aayog reviews current status of State SDGs

GUWAHATI: A meeting on the SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) of the State was held under the chairmanship of Dipok Kumar Barthakur, Vice-Chairman, State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) at his office chamber at Janata Bhawan on Thursday.

At the meeting Dr. J.C Phukan, SDG Consultant, made a power-point presentation on activities of SDG relevant to Assam and its present role in the State.

Mousumi Das, SRO, representing Transformation & Development Department apprised that the department is in touch with the officials of the World Bank to bring the framework of SDGs in its final formulation.

After a detailed discussion, the meeting was of the view that the Transformation & Development Department should take initiative to expedite the process of the activities of the SDGs in the State and in coordination with all the development departments.

The Vice-Chairman feels that as Assam was one of the pioneer states in SDG activities, it is high time the State led from the front to achieve ADG goals.

Advisors of SITA Dr. Mridul Hazarika, Dr. K.M Buzarbarua and Kashi Nath Hazarika were present at the meeting, a press release said.
