State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) projects reviewed in Dispur

A review meeting of projects of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) was held on Monday at the office of its Co-Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka at Janata Bhavan, Dispur.

GUWAHATI: A review meeting of projects of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) was held on Monday at the office of its Co-Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka at Janata Bhavan, Dispur.

The projects were – an approach for enhancement of Muga Silkworm production in Assam to be implemented by Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology; Floods and impacts on livelihood in Rural Assam; Development of a smart platform for promotion of renewable energy in Assam to be implemented by Department of Energy, Tezpur University; and Designing climate resilient practices to strengthen management of Kaziranga and Manas landscape to be implemented by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council.

The Co-Vice-Chairman viewed that in regard to muga silkworm production, the institution should introduce a target based programme to increase the production of Muga and steps must be taken for the economic viability of the product. In regard to floods and impacts on livelihood, Deka suggested that a proper step may be introduced to reclaim the agricultural land damaged due to the sand deposition in Dhemaji district in the same methodology adopted in Bhubaneswar to reclaim the land damaged by sea water, stated a press release.
