GUWAHATI: The Street Vendors Association of Assam (ASVA) has demanded the implementation of the Street Vendor (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, in the state.

Addressing the media today, ASVA president Chandan Goswami said, "The government and local administrations evict us rampantly. The government evicts us by violating the specified instructions issued by the judiciary. In Guwahati, the eviction of vendors takes place based on the reports Town Vending Committee. Even though this committee has completed its five-year term, the administration has not formed a new committee. The old committee continues to evict vendors rampantly in the metropolitan city."

On the ongoing survey of vendors in Guwahati, Goswami said, "Since vendors vend in three different timings, the survey should be in three different timings - morning, noon and afternoon."
