GUWAHATI: With more than five schools in Kamrup (M) jurisdiction, the lastest school which came in contact with the deadly virus is the Cotton Collegiate School in Guwahati.
According to reports, 12 students of Cotton Collegiate Govt H.S School have tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the detection of COVID has created panic amongst the parents.
Earlier this month, in view of the detection of COVID-19 positive cases in two schools of Guwahati the Kamrup Metropolitan District as a preventive measure, has asked the school authority to close the school. Read more
According to a notification the schools in concern are- NPS International School, Betkuchi, and Jatiya Vidyalaya in Noonmati.
In a press notification it states that " In view of detection of COVID-19 positive students at NPS International & Jatiya Vidyalaya under Kamrup Metropolitan District, in the interest of the maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students, the school authority is directed to close the school for the next 7 days."
On the other hand, Don Bosco School, Panbazar in Guwahati has announced that the school will not have physical classes following the increasing spike in COVID -19 cases in the state.
From the state, the Dibrugarh administration has said that schools will remain shut for one week as the district has recorded over 100 COVID cases. Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that all districts with over 100 cases can decide to shut schools.
Dibrugarh has recorded 154 cases on April 23. In Moran also school authorities announced that classes will remain closed (including class 10) for one week from April 24. Read more
