GUWAHATI: A meeting was held among the supporters of State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) vice president Jayanta Das at Rukminigaon here on Tuesday. The supporters showed their resentment against the top brass of the party for denying Dispur LAC ticket to Das. The supporters also urged Das, who was also present at the meeting, to contest independently. Later, talking to the media, Das said that he will take a decision soon whether to contest as an independent candidate or not.
Meanwhile, talking to the media, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the party gave the Dispur LAC ticket to AGP president Atul Bora as he is a senior leader. "I don't think that Das will contest independently. He should work for the party because he has plenty of time to contest from the party in the future," Sarma.
