GUWAHATI: The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) met Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Revenue Minister Jogen Mohan to address various issues of the Tai community.

The TAYPA has demanded the establishment of a skill development university in the name of Swargadeo Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha. During the meeting, it also stressed the need for a defence academy in the undivided Sivasagar district in the name of Bir Lachit Borphukan.

Among other demands by the body include – setting up of skill development centres in every district of upper Assam, and filling up of vacancies in the Education Department.

This was informed by TAYPA spokesperson Gunakanta Gogoi in a statement.
