GUWAHATI: Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has demanded of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to make the inquiry report of the custodial death of Jayanta Bora of Balijan Gabharu Ali village under Titabor LAC in jorhat district.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Gogoi said, "I would like to bring to your kind notice about your announcement of conducting an inquiry into the custodial death of Jayanta Bora, son of retired army person Late Hema Bora of Balijan Gabharu Ali village under my Titabor LAC, Jorhat on June 15 early morning due to terrible physical torture. It may be mentioned that your representatives Sri Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture and Sri Jogen Mohan, MoS (Ind) Revenue etc., visited the residence of deceased family on June 16, 2020 and gave assurance that the inquiry would be completed and made public within seven days.

"Though it has been almost twenty days passed yet nobody knows about the outcome of the report. Besides, till today neither the Army and police personnel responsible for the death of Jayanta Bora have been arrested nor any proceeding been started yet.

"I, therefore, request you to see that not only the inquiry report be published, but also necessary action is to be taken against the police and the Army."
